Coastal protection with geotextile sand containers
Climate change, rising sea levels and shore protection are topics which are discussed worldwide. However, the usual erosion processes along the shoreline as well as along rivers must not be forgotten.
In coastal protection, especially on sandy coasts, it is becoming increasingly important to take visual and ecological concerns into account and not only rely on conventional methods with armour stones or concrete.
Cramped space conditions resulting from beaches, dunes, promenades and buildings may lead to the fact that e.g. coastal dunes acting as storm surge protection measure cannot be formed according to their nominal cross-section. In the case of a complete removal of the dune during storm surge, an additional construction must take over the safety function of the dune as last barrier against breakthrough.
Concepts to prevent erosion or scour effects will be presented in design and construction.
